Oats upma

The goodness of oatmeal for a toned up body can never be forgotten. Oats are very effective in reducing down calories in one’s body and lessen up the weight. Enriched in anti-oxidants, zinc, vitamin B1 and vitamin B5 it helps in congestion. It lowers down cholesterol levels and also helps indigestion. Ingredients to be used-

  • 3 teaspoon oats
  • ½ teaspoon olive oil
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 minced onion
  • 2 tomatoes
  • ½ cup soaked dal
  • 2-3 chopped green chillies
  • Salt to taste

Method- Add 3 teaspoon oats and ½ water and cook it on stove for ten minutes. In a cooking pan, take the given amount of olive oil and add onion, tomatoes and soaked dal. Sauté it till it turns golden brown. Then add the partially cook oats and cook it till done. Later add green chilies and salt to taste. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve hot.

Tomato and tofu salad

Tomatoes are our knight in the battle of losing weight. They have high citrus content and are filled with Vitamin A and Vitamin C. It adds volume to your meal and helps you shed unwanted pounds.

Tofu, on other hand, is a low-carb food with high protein content. It helps in weight loss, prevents chronic diseases like diabetics, high blood pressure and checks on cholesterol level. It also enables hair growth and glorious skin. Studies reveal that people who regularly consume tofu are likely to be less affected with breast and prostate cancer.

Ingredients to be used-

  • 3 large tomatoes
  • 100 grams tofu
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2-3 basil leaves
  • 1 teaspoon salt and pepper
  • Olive oil

Method- cut the tomatoes in desired proportion. Add minced garlic, olive oil, salt, pepper and basil leaves in a separate jar and mix them. Let the mix settle for 10 minutes. Add tofu with tomatoes. Later, drizzle the mix over the tomatoes and tofu and garnish it with basil leaves. Cover the salad for 15 minutes before serving.

Broccoli and chicken stir fry

Broccoli is filled with the goodness of omega-3, copper, zinc, proteins and high fibre. It is also enriched in calcium which improves the bone density. Containing 90% of water, this veggie has enormous power to reduce your fats and keep you dehydrated. This recipe is delicious and a great treat for non- vegetarians

Ingredients to be used-

  • ½ lb chicken breasts
  • 10 ounces broccoli pieces
  • 3 ounces carrots
  • 1 cup of water
  • 3 teaspoon soy sauce
  • Minced ginger paste
  • 2 teaspoon cornstarch
  • Garlic paste
  • Salt to taste
  • Olive oil

Mix soy sauce, ginger and garlic and set aside for later. In a pan, cook chicken in olive oil till turned golden brown and keep aside. Take the broccoli and carrots, chopped them and add with water to skillet till they become crisp. Later, sauté the vegetables and chicken pieces with soy mixture. Stir then for 5 minutes at simmer. Add cornstarch and boil till it thickens. Serve hot with rice.
